Ghost Factories image

Ghost Factories Investigation

A 14-month newsroom investigation led by Alison Young revealed government regulators did little to protect the public from lead "smelter" factories that operated in the U.S. from the 1930s to 1960s. The investigation prompted the EPA to reexamine all 460 former factory sites for health hazards.
